Hands off Iran!

No to imperialist aggression, for a multi-polar world
Bild
Iran is the main statal challenger of the US uni-polar world order. The nuclear conflict in substance is all about whether Tehran accepts or not to bow to imperialist supremacy. If Iran is able to hold out is will be a bold step towards a multi-polar world. For anti-imperialist forces across the world this will give new space to breath.

At the same time Teheran is also a regional power projecting its particular interests which do not always coincide with those of the resistance movements. This was especially true for Iraq where Tehran shared a condominium with the US occupation against resistance or decisive parts of its. Also regarding Syria its geo-strategic interests overrule those of the popular revolt. One cannot deny that Shia-coloured anti-imperialism can also fuel sectarian conflict to the detriment of global anti-imperialist movement.

1. From an anti-imperialist point of view, the overwhelming victory of Ahmadinejad in the elections is positive, because the incumbent and president-elect stands for confrontation with the U.S.-led new order for the Near East.

2.    Even the Western media had to admit that it is the poor who strongly support the president. His allegations of corruption promptly gained him the epithet “populist” in the West—an indirect admission that he enjoys broad support from below.

France and Britain following suit

As we write, the arrival of new U.S. warships will mark the largest build-up of Naval forces in the Gulf since the 1991 Gulf War.

The aircraft carriers USS Theodore Roosevelt and the USS Ronald Reagan, along with the USS Iwo Jima, an Amphibious Assault Ship are sailing toward the Persian Gulf to reinforce the US strike forces in the region, along with a British Royal Navy carrier battle group and a French nuclear hunter-killer submarine.

This move follows the ominous Operation Brimstone, a massive military exercise involving more than a dozen warships from the US, England, and France in the Atlantic Ocean in preparation for a possible confrontation with Iran.

We Condemn the Colonial Sanctions Against Iran

The Iranian-American Community (IACUS) strongly condemns the new round of the US-dominated UN Security Council sanctions against the people of Iran. We consider these sanctions imperialist efforts aimed at pressuring the Iranian government to submit to the will of the Western Neo-Liberal rule. They are also a futile attempt to deny the Iranian people the technology that would further pave the way towards their independence and sovereignty.

After Palestine, Yugoslavia, Afghanistan and Iraq it is now the turn of Iran. Tehran has been long named head of the "axis of the evil" but Washington had other pressing bellicose needs on the way to global predominance.

A story authored by a prominent U.S. neo-conservative regarding new legislation in Iran allegedly requiring Jews and other religious minorities to wear distinctive colour badges circulated around the world this weekend before it was exposed as false.

The article by a frequent contributor to the Wall Street Journal, Iranian-American Amir Taheri, was initially published in Friday's edition of Canada's National Post, which ran alongside the story a 1935 photograph of a Jewish businessman in Berlin with a yellow, six-pointed star sewn on his overcoat, as required by Nazi legislation at the time. The Post subsequently issued a retraction.
