The United States and Israel have mobilized massive military forces against Iran. Their objective is clear: to secure unchallenged dominance for their (neo)colonial project in the region.
In a blatant disregard for international law, their explicitly stated goal is regime change. Behind the rhetoric lies a simple demand: that Iran accept the full military supremacy of the United States and Israel without resistance. No other state should be allowed to defend itself — hence their insistence on eliminating Iran’s longer-range missile capabilities and any kind of nuclear program. In effect, this amounts to a complete surrender of sovereignty for all, except of course for the United States and Israel.
No one who genuinely seeks a just world order, self-determination, and democracy — specifically including for the Iranian people — can support a project such as this. In this present historical moment, the development of counterweights to US–Israeli imperialism is decisive, whether through states or through popular movements. These counterweights not only already exist; they are growing stronger. The escalating and openly genocidal aggression of Western imperialism (as seen in Palestine) must be understood in the context of this growing resistance.
Even though much was kept hidden, the fact remains: when the United States and Israel attacked Iran in June of 2025, Iran was able to respond and inflict significant damage on Israel in turn. Now, the aggressors have gathered an even greater number of forces and are ready to strike again. Washington hesitates however, aware of the potential consequences — not only for Israel, a militarized state prepared to pursue total war, but also for US control over the region as a whole. Many allies oppose such an escalation, recognizing that a broader war could destabilize or even topple their own governments.
Unlike in the past, the United States and Israel have made little effort to disguise and legitimize their aggression in the language of “democracy.” They have openly called for the overthrow of the Iranian government and aligned themselves with the Shah — the pro-Western dictatorship that once drove the country into catastrophe and was overthrown by a popular revolution. The son of the torturer Pahlavi has now positioned himself as a direct political instrument of US and Israeli interests.
We stand with the struggle for democracy, but it can only succeed if it is anti-imperialist at its core: a struggle rooted in the defense of Iran’s sovereignty against Western domination. Democracy and social progress are inseparable from national sovereignty. They require resisting — and ultimately defeating — imperialism and Zionism. A crucial element of this fight is international solidarity with the Palestinian resistance, which Iran has supported more consistently than almost any other state.
We call on all anti-imperialist and democratic forces to prepare to mobilize, to connect with us, and to build a broad coalition against U.S. and Israeli military aggression. The Austrian government must be compelled to act in accordance with its constitutional neutrality and reject participation in imperial warmongering.
