Indonesians ask for withdrawal from Trump’s colonial “Board of Peace”

23. February 2026

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

The President of the United States (US), Donald Trump, acting as a collaborator in the Zionist Israeli genocide in Gaza, is designing an ambitious international body to control governance and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip following military aggression. Trump has boasted that this body will become one of the most influential institutions in the world.

However, behind this rhetoric of peace, the body carries a structure that is highly transactional, elitist, and centered on the geopolitical interests of the United States. Rather than realizing genuine peace in the Gaza Strip, this idea represents a form of modern imperialism wrapped in a humanitarian narrative.

Trump is building a new-style colonial system under the pretext of stabilization and reconstruction, which in essence aims to take control of Gaza, normalize Zionist Israeli war crimes, and perpetuate the blockade and genocide against the Palestinian people.

Therefore, Aqsa Working Group (AWG) declares the following position:

1. Trump’s plan through the Board of Peace (BoP) and the International Stabilization Force (ISF) is in fact a United States geopolitical trap designed to secure Zionist Israeli interests and expand American hegemony as a manifestation of new imperialism. This scheme is not intended to realize an independent, sovereign Palestine with the right to self-determination, let alone the liberation of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

2. The United Nations Security Council resolution adopting Trump’s proposal on Gaza and Palestine has proven to have failed in stopping Zionist Israeli crimes. Since the resolution was enacted, military aggression has continued for at least 80 days, resulting in nearly 450 Gazan civilians martyred and thousands more injured (the majority being children and women), despite resistance forces fulfilling their commitment to return all hostages.

3. Involving the Zionist Israeli entity in an International Council for Gaza reconstruction is an absurd decision that contradicts the logic of justice and principles of international law. Perpetrators of genocide are not worthy of becoming architects of peace. Zionist Israeli actors should instead be arrested and brought before the International Court for war crimes and crimes against humanity, just as the Nazi regime was prosecuted through the Nuremberg Trials after World War II.

4. The establishment of the Board of Peace based on Trump’s plan underscores that the existence of the United Nations as the highest international body has lost its dignity. Therefore, Aqsa Working Group calls, rather than joining Trump’s plan filled with global oligarchic interests, for unified efforts to reform the United Nations, particularly the permanent membership of the Security Council and its veto rights. The UN and the international community must return to the original mandate of international law: protecting civilians, stopping genocide, and upholding justice, not serving as instruments of great powers that side with occupiers.

5. Aqsa Working Group supports the steps taken by the presidents of France, Sweden, and Norway in withdrawing from the World Board of Peace and calls upon the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, to withdraw from all Trump-related schemes and plans concerning the Gaza Board of Peace, while reaffirming Indonesia’s consistent position in rejecting colonialism and defending Palestinian independence as mandated by the Constitution.

6. Any effort to reconstruct Gaza without a total cessation of aggression, the lifting of the blockade, and full recognition of Palestinian sovereignty constitutes a form of new colonialism. Reconstruction must not be used as a tool to legitimize occupation and ethnic cleansing.

7. The presence of international troops in Gaza under the mandate of the United States or its allies risks becoming a new instrument of control and repression against the Palestinian people rather than a peacekeeping force. Aqsa Working Group rejects all forms of Gaza militarization under the pretext of stabilization.

8. Cooperation by Arab and Muslim countries, particularly parties that have normalized relations with Zionist Israel such as Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, represents a deeply shameful stance that undermines the solidarity of the ummah. Such involvement is tantamount to being complicit in genocide in Gaza.

9. Aqsa Working Group calls on all elements of Indonesian society and the global community to remain vigilant against false peace narratives, strengthen global solidarity, and continue applying pressure so that genocide in Gaza is stopped unconditionally—for the sake of genuine world peace, Palestinian independence, and the liberation of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Move together in unity—liberate Al-Aqsa Mosque and Palestine. Allahu Akbar! Al-Aqsa is our right!
