On behalf of the international coordination “Stop World War III – International Peace Initiative”, I thank all those present, delegates from many countries and different continents, for participating in this Conference of ours. A special thanks goes to the brothers and comrades of the Socialist Progress Party of Morocco who are hosting us and have taken care of the organization and logistics.
This meeting in Tangier is the third one we have held, after the first, founding one, held in Rome in October 2023 and the one dedicated to the Palestinian cause, also held in Rome in April 2024.
In the founding declaration approved by acclamation on 28 October 2023, given the imperialist tendency to proceed towards a new great war, we established that the struggle for peace and support for popular resistance was the primary duty and for this reason we decided to create a permanent international coordination network.
Less than two years have passed since our birth and we must ask ourselves a fundamental question: have the changes that have taken place on the international scene denied or confirmed the reasons for our existence?
Two seem to me to be the main changes that have occurred in the last two years.
The first: the defeat of NATO in Ukraine by Russia and its allies, which has weakened the imperialist bloc. We see that despite the availability of a truce by the new American government, the European Union plus the United Kingdom are aiming for revenge and for this they are adopting a gigantic rearmament plan.
The second: the sharpening of contradictions and conflicts in the Near East, a sharpening that could lead (and this is precisely what the Zionist entity under Netanyahu’s leadership is preparing for) to a multiple and disastrous regional war, what the messianic Jews call Armageddon. The ongoing genocide in Gaza is a clear proof of the strategic intentions of the Netanyahu government: a final showdown to give life to the so-called “Greater Israel”.
Without a doubt, the changes that have occurred show that we were right: humanity, due to the refusal of the imperialist powers to give way to a new multilateral and multipolar world order of truly free and sovereign nations, is already in the midst of an asymmetric and stage-by-stage third world war.
Hence the confirmation of our decision to constitute ourselves as an international network because stopping the escalation towards the third world war, therefore supporting popular resistance and peace movements are the two fundamental tasks of this historical period.
But where are we with regard to the construction of an International network for peace and anti-imperialist? We have made modest steps forward, too little compared to what is needed.
I hope that this third meeting of ours will allow us to take another step forward, thanks to the contribution of all the delegations and forces present, hopefully even greater than those taken so far.
Do not be discouraged if our enemies are still very powerful, do not surrender to the blows they will bring us, do not be demoralized by the enormity of our undertaking. Let us remember what Mao Zedong said: “Strategic victory is the result of a series of tactical defeats”. As the Gazawi and Russian people show us in very different contexts, there is no victory without great sacrifices. All our political intelligence, will and determination are needed.
