Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza while the world is watching with horror. The solidarity movements keep growing and a challenging the political systems of the West as without the full-fletched support of the US, the EU and also the single European countries this historic crime against humanity would not be possible.
All talk about democracy, human rights, equality – the so-called Western values – reveal themselves as blatant lies. US-led global capitalism is executing a colonial genocide literally starving millions to death.
All this is being justified by misusing the historic genocide against the Jewish people.
That is why it is so important that more and more people with a Jewish identity not only say “Not in our name”, but want to tackle the problem at its roots and oppose Zionism itself, which is organically racist and colonial. The entire project of a Jewish separate state is only possible on the basis of the annihilation of the Palestinian people. The only just and peaceful solution: an end to Zionism by means of a common democratic state on the model of South Africa, where apartheid could be ended.
After the fall of the USSR there have been very few Jewish voices in Austria to support the Palestinian people and to oppose Zionism. But accelerating the creeping genocide into an acute mass starvation and annihilation campaign pushed many Jewish people also here to stand up.
They started to reclaim anti-fascism with an anti-imperialist content referring to the forgotten historic “Mauthausen oath” recognising Zionism as a form of fascism. Several rallies with important Jewish contribution were held producing also a split in the pro-Zionist regime anti-fascism.
By the beginning of this year, they issued a “Vienna Jewish Anti-zionist Declaration” signed by several dozen people with Jewish identity – many of them descendants of resistance fighters, communists and victims of the Holocaust, some of the living also abroad.
As the latest step this initiative called for the “Jewish Anti-zionist Congress” which is open to all Anti-zionist and anti-imperialist forces. This congress is a huge step ahead for the Palestine solidarity movement. Some years ago, to declare yourself Anti-zionist caused the most extreme isolation. Today it has become a mass movement including also many Jewish people.
Free Palestine has become the rallying cry of all people fighting for liberation from global imperialist capitalism!
