After Kosovo, Macedonia.
24/3/2001
By Michel CollonWhat is left of the explanations of NATO ?A sinister repetition? After the Albanian separatists of the KLA have attacked the villages of the Presevo valley in Serbia, after they have killed 11 Serbian civilians of Kosovo by throwing a bomb in a bus, they are waging now war in neighbouring Macedonia. And again refugees are on the roads. Is there a new escalation in the Balkans? In fact, these events allow to better understand what happened in 1999. In this complex situation (because everything is done to disorientate the public opinion), let us answer clearly to the main questions.Michel Collon1. Is Macedonia a strategic region ?Yes, as we have explained in our book Monopoly by citing the general Jackson, commander of the NATO troops: "We will certainly stay here for a long … [read more]

By Power of Working Class (PWC) - KoreaFrom the struggle against layoffs to the struggle for the Kim DJ regime´s resignationMarch 19, 2001Dear comrades and friends,The Power of the Working Class would like to express the warmest thanks for your recent solidarity message to the Daewoo struggle. The PWC has been an integral part of this fight, having been a key driving force behind the Joint Struggle Committee (a coalition of 25 organisations, including the Daewoo union, metalworkers federation and the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions), the organising of actions on the ground, and building solidarity with the dismissed workers. The Daewoo struggle has been an important part of the ongoing fight against the Kim Dae-jung regime´s rolling neoliberal offensive against working people. TURKEY: 150 DAYS OF RESISTANCE, STRUGGLE AND A VICTORY EVERY DAY
20/3/2001
by IKM (Committee of Struggle against Torture Through Isolation)"Here they cannot drown our voices either. With the slogans we shout in our cells, we overcome all walls and distance. We have contrived to break down the `separation`, so to speak... It is so beautiful to be part of this splendid resistance and to experience this. I am very happy and this is such an excellent thing." These are the words of the Death Faster Ahmet Özdemir, who has been on the Death Fast for 150 days. The fascist state in Turkey wanted to make the revolutionary prisoners in Turkey surrender. The state stormed the prisons on December 19-22 in the cruellest fashion and massacred prisoners. Four women were burned alive, hundreds wounded and a total of 28 prisoners killed. Inconceivable torture methods were used but … [read more]
CONGO AT THE CROSS ROADS

By Casimir Malanda, 9 February 2001Joseph Kabila faces terrible dangers and unforeseen opportunities I`ve lived in Kinshasa the last six months of Kabila. The murder of the President was hanging in the air, so to speak. In view of the anarchy installed at the state, in view of the incompetence and carelessness reigning in the close circles around Mzee, it had to arrive sooner or later. Kabila was condemned by history to fall as a martyr, exactly like Lumumba. The outcome of these two men is so alike that it becomes troublesome. Both men were standing almost alone in their struggle to awaken and mobilise the Congolese people. But the tragedy seemed inevitable since between these two heroes and the people there was an empty gap. And the population was due to assist passively at the slow … [read more]
Indonesia: The death toll of the massacre 1965/1966

Call for Support by the Indonesian Institute for the Study of 1965/1966 MassacreSupport our Works: The death toll of the massacre 1965/1966The death toll of the massacre 1965/1966Background General Soeharto`s seize of the Indonesian President Soekarno`s power in 1965 was preceded by the so-called "September 30 Movement" and soon followed by a large-scale brutal massacre of Indonesian leftists. It has been impossible to establish realistically the death-toll resulting from the 1965-1966 massacres, as Soeharto`s military regime has firmly discourage any such efforts. A kind of state terror together with his military and hangmen was exercised to silence public opinion and independent research. The following figures speak for them selves: Encyclopaedia "Britannica" mentions the victims … [read more]

STOP THE WITCH HUNT AGAINST SLOBODAN MILOSEVIC
15/3/2001
By Barry Lituchy and Jim YarkerThe Anti-imperialist Camp receives and publishes:We, the undersigned, wish to register our disgust with and opposition to the planned trial of former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic by the current Serbian authorities at the request of the United States and its NATO partners. While NATO`s criminal aggression against the people of Yugoslavia goes unpunished, and reparations go unpaid, we are witnessing the repulsive spectacle of DOS ministers and officials (the new regime in Belgrade) serving as judicial handmaidens to NATO`s criminal leaders and their illegal puppet court, the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) at The Hague. We charge the ICTY and the American government with falsifying war crimes charges against President … [read more]

South Africa`s struggle against Aids and the pharamceutical multinationalsSouth Africa is ranked amongst countries of the world to be the most devastated country as far as the epidemic of HIVAIDS. With the rate of infection going on in the manner it is doing, the economy is likely to face a downward slope in the next few years. This is so in the light of the fact that the epidemic is endemic amongst the productive labour force and in particular the young people.International pharmaceutical companies in South Africa for their part, are profiting with the high cost of drugs that are necessary for the treatment of the opportunistic diseases such as TB and so on. Taking into account that the epidemic has reached disastrous proportions, our government was forced to invoke international patent … [read more]

Freedom for the leaders of the popular protests in Ecuador!
31/1/2001
Vienna, 31/01/01The Antiimperialist Camp denounces the arrest of two of the most important leaders of the popular struggle in Ecuador: Luis Villacàs Maldonado, National President of the Popular Front and one of the official speakers of the Patriotic Front, as well as Antonio Vargas, the well known leader of the CONAIE (Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador). All the promises of the government of Noboa to the poor people that rose up one year ago against the hunger-politics of the former corrupt government of Jamil Mahuad and even could overthrow it, have proofed to be cheap lies to betray the people, to demobilize and pacify its fights. There is no more doubt: the government of Noboa, ex-vice-president of the overthrown president Mahuad and now president of the Republic, … [read more]

Call for the Anti-imperialist Camp 2001, Italy, July 28th – August 5thWill this world survive until 2100?"Within a hundred years from today the planet Earth will be half dead, and so will the human beings." It is not us who are saying this, but the scientists who observe the ongoing processes in the biosphere. The greenhouse effect…—the overheating of the Earth--will provoke irreversible climatic changes. As a consequence, there will be lack of water almost everywhere within only 50 years. Already today more than a fifth of the world`s population is suffering the lack of drinking water while five million people die every year due to drinking of polluted water. The desertification and destruction of the top soil are progressing and seem to be unstoppable. More than two billion … [read more]
