Their importance and what comes next Debate with Augusto Fontan Moura, Palestine activist On October 25th, Brazil re-elected Lula da Silva as president, denying Flávio Bolsonaro the presidency. Lula, following his weak government, suffered a strong defeat in the first round of the elections, but unprecedent independent street mobilization and a powerful online campaign stopped Bolsonaro from claiming the presidency. The street mobilization was truly independent, beginning with students and lacking central coordination. This led to a historic win in the runoff and dealing an important blow to the advance of Bolsonarism in Brazil. But this victory goes beyond Brazil as it slows the advance of Trump’s political influence throughout the region, as well as thwart the complete … [read more]

The Stop WW3 International Initiative for Peace unequivocally aligns itself with the resistance of the Iranian people against the imperialist aggression of the United States and the Zionist entity. For more than six weeks, both parties have been carrying out relentless attacks under the name “Epic Fury.” Against the will of a large part of the population, a reckless Trump is dragging the United States into yet another war, encouraged by Netanyahu and the hawks within his cabinet. Civilian targets, including schools and essential infrastructure, have not been spared, resulting in immense human suffering. The resistance of the Islamic Republic of Iran against the United States and Israel serves as an example to the world. Anti-imperialist forces worldwide cannot but support this … [read more]

by Fatemeh Sadat-Serki This article was written and submitted to Antiimperialista.org by Fatemeh Sadat-Serki in Tehran under fire, on the thirty-fourth day of U.S. and Israeli aggression against Iran. Fatemeh is a leftist social activist and a well-known researcher in the field of venture philanthropy in Iran, with several successful economic empowerment and community development projects among the country’s most vulnerable communities. Thirty-four days have passed since the beginning of the war, and the figures emerging from various neighbourhoods across each and every city paint a horrifying and shocking picture of the blatant violation of humanitarian principles. According to reports from the Red Crescent, as of April 2, more than 3000 civilians have been killed. At least … [read more]

Saeid Harasani is a researcher on governance, poverty and inequality, writing from Tehran under the fire and bombs for the Anti-imperialist website. Fyodor Dostoevsky, the renowned Russian novelist, emphasizes in Notes from Underground that war is the most monotonous event in human history. "It suffices to review the official military and state uniforms of people from different eras. This in itself holds value. Is it monotonous? Well, yes, perhaps it is monotonous. War and war; they fight now, they fought before, and they will fight in the future. You admit that it is monotonous to an excessive degree." Dostoevsky's central point is that human morals and interests are not formed based on "two plus two equals four" knowledge. Humans act contrary to this to demonstrate their will. They … [read more]

Mohammad Maljoo, Iranian leftist writer and researcher who has lost his academic career due to his sharp criticism of the neoliberal policies in Iran and has faced arrest in several occasions in past decade, wrote a response to the naïve or complicit forces who demand a regime change in Iran in the middle of the US and Zionist bombardment of the Iranian civil infrastructure. The translation is as follows: They say whoever opposes the military aggression is a supporter of the government. As if the world is divided by two darkness: authoritarianism and bombs [translator: the ones who drop the bombs are also bringing more authoritarianism]. This bifurcation is not true. The people who are most supressed by the authoritarianism are the same ones whose lives are burning from the fire of … [read more]

"Iranians against the war" have constituted themselves right after the start of the US-Israeli aggression. No the present themselves publicly and ask for support. March 19, 7pm Rögergasse 24-26, 1090 Wien The majority of Iranian population both inside the country and among the diaspora oppose and condemn US-Israeli bombing of their home country, regardless of their stance on the internal politics of the their home country. This is a fact that has been intentionally censored and aggressively supressed in service of the propaganda to justify war and sanctions on nearly 90 million innocent civilians. Together we will defend our people, our nation, our sovereignty. We will not let the imperial and neo-colonial political leaders who appear prominently in the heinous Epstein files to … [read more]

These days, these terms are very popular. On January 20th, Mr. Carney, the Prime Minister of Canada, started his speech in Davos by mentioning how the rules-based order is fading. He then continued—and I quote: “Intermediate powers are not powerless. They have the capacity to build a new order that encompasses our values: human rights, sustainable development, solidarity, sovereignty, and the territorial integrity of states.” He cited a piece from The Power of the Powerless, written by Václav Havel, and mentioned: “We knew the story of the international rules-based order was partially false. That the strongest would exempt themselves when convenient. That, trade rules were enforced asymmetrically. And we knew that international law applied with varying rigor depending … [read more]

Imad Payande, Internet Goverance and Social Media Researcher based in Tehran   The Big Lie and the Bloody Reality The world was staring at two starkly different realities. On one side, Donald Trump took to TruthSocial, spinning a web of disinformation: "Iran has apologized and surrendered," he crowed, declaring that the nation was no longer the "bully of the Middle East" but a "loser" on the brink of collapse. He spoke with brazen arrogance about personally interfering in Iran’s leadership selection, treating a sovereign nation like a vassal state. On the other side, The New York Times and CNN were inadvertently broadcasting the unvarnished truth. Satellite imagery showed schools and hospitals in flames. This contradiction formed the core of the post-colonial narrative … [read more]

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. The President of the United States (US), Donald Trump, acting as a collaborator in the Zionist Israeli genocide in Gaza, is designing an ambitious international body to control governance and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip following military aggression. Trump has boasted that this body will become one of the most influential institutions in the world. However, behind this rhetoric of peace, the body carries a structure that is highly transactional, elitist, and centered on the geopolitical interests of the United States. Rather than realizing genuine peace in the Gaza Strip, this idea represents a form of modern imperialism wrapped in a humanitarian narrative. Trump is building a new-style colonial system under the … [read more]

The United States and Israel have mobilized massive military forces against Iran. Their objective is clear: to secure unchallenged dominance for their (neo)colonial project in the region. In a blatant disregard for international law, their explicitly stated goal is regime change. Behind the rhetoric lies a simple demand: that Iran accept the full military supremacy of the United States and Israel without resistance. No other state should be allowed to defend itself — hence their insistence on eliminating Iran’s longer-range missile capabilities and any kind of nuclear program. In effect, this amounts to a complete surrender of sovereignty for all, except of course for the United States and Israel. No one who genuinely seeks a just world … [read more]

by an Iranian in Vienna During the past month, a new phenomenon has become visible in Vienna, Berlin, and other European cities: large demonstrations organized by Iranian opposition groups, both online and in the streets, urging Europeans to “be their voice” and to show solidarity. But a basic question remains unanswered—a voice for what, exactly? What are they asking of EU citizens? The demands are often vague, yet the emotional appeal is loud. In this article, I argue why Europeans—particularly those on the left—should be deeply cautious about lending their voice or solidarity to these mobilizations. One of the gifts of living in Vienna has been the sense of belonging to a genuinely cosmopolitan public sphere. Over the years, I have learned about other societies, their … [read more]

When did World War II begin? With the German attack on Poland on September 1, 1939? With the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941? In 1936 with the Nazi-Fascist intervention to crush the Spanish Revolution? Or in 1931 with the Japanese invasion of Manchuria? (1) No one, especially in the historical phase of asymmetric and hybrid wars, will declare the Third World War. If we define as global the wars that mark the transition from one historical phase to the next, from one hegemonic system to another, well, we are already in a conflict of world-historical proportions, marked by the decline of the U.S.-led imperialist bloc. and the beginnings of a coalition led by China. The exponential increase in military spending at every latitude is proof that a large-scale conflict is … [read more]

Another step toward the abyss of a third world war. Declaration of "Stop World War 3 - International Initiative for Peace" With the old and unfounded excuse that the Islamic Republic of Iran is building a nuclear bomb, Trump has dragged the United States into war alongside the rogue Israeli state. This is not an improvised gesture but a long-planned and premeditated move, prepared in the event that the rogue Israeli state was, as indeed it was, gravely hurt by Iran’s legitimate and lethal self-defense. Openly defying U.S. public opinion and much of his own electorate, Trump has ultimately bowed to the Zionist, militarist, and warmongering circles that plague the White House, the Pentagon, and various centers of U.S. power. That there were “elective affinities” between … [read more]

The imperialist structures of the EU are seeking expansion in the context of the upcoming full-scale war against Russia. Over the last few years, the comprador ruling class in Bulgaria has been doing everything possible to get the country into the eurozone in order to do the will of its Western masters. The planned date for this is 1 January 2026. This will happen against the will of the vast majority of the Bulgarian people. Even official sociology admits that about two thirds of Bulgarians are against this move. It is obvious to everyone that this will lead to further impoverishment of the working class and even greater dependence of Bulgaria on Western corporations and institutions. There is a large-scale opposition to the euro in the country. With the efforts of the entire … [read more]

to take place in Vienna June 13-15, 2025   Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza while the world is watching with horror. The solidarity movements keep growing and a challenging the political systems of the West as without the full-fletched support of the US, the EU and also the single European countries this historic crime against humanity would not be possible. All talk about democracy, human rights, equality – the so-called Western values – reveal themselves as blatant lies. US-led global capitalism is executing a colonial genocide literally starving millions to death. All this is being justified by misusing the historic genocide against the Jewish people. That is why it is so important that more and more people with a Jewish … [read more]
